Chairman's Report for AGM 2021

PSSTTA CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

ZOOM AGM MAY 24th 2021

This is our second AGM via Zoom but hopefully it will be the last.

Although only a few members managed to join in our Zoom meetings there was little that we could discuss apart from saying hello.

My French counterpart Bernard joined us on one occasion where we discussed our forthcoming trip to France. It was decided to put on hold yet again due to Covid-19 but hopefully we will be able to meet up next year.

Our December zoom meetings had a festive and cheery feeling when we all shared a virtual glass of wine and a mince pie. We wished each other a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Our last President Cllr Brian Jones was unable to interact with us in his year of office but this year’s Mayor Cllr Tracy Hill has happily accepted the offer to be our President.

We sent out a Newsletter to keep everyone up to date and my thanks go to Elaine Winstanley and the committee for their input. I hope some of you have been looking at the PSSTTA website, being updated whenever possible by Robert our webmaster. If anyone has any news or comments, please share them with us.

Sadly, our secretary Ann Lee is leaving the committee therefore on behalf of the Town Twinning Association and especial myself wish Ann well in her new venture. I also welcome our new secretary and I am sure he will enjoy this position.

Ann will be staying on as a member of PSSTTA and has offered to advise and assist us, I for one have been very glad of her advice and help over the years.

This is my fifth year as your Chairman and if anyone would like to step in my shoes, I will help them as much as I can.

I am very proud how we have all pulled together in our events over the years and enjoyed each other’s company, Let’s hope we can get together soon, it would be nice to have a catch up with everyone in person.

On that note Bob, myself and the committee would like to welcome you all to my back garden sometime in August for a BBQ --- watch this space for further details.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the committee for their dedication, help and support during this past year and everyone who stayed true to the organisation, we all wish Dickie Rowe a belated happy 90th Birthday, a few of us even managed to make a short video singing happy birthday to him which I know he enjoyed very much.

Some of us have lost loved one’s both home and abroad this past year and we raise a glass to them, so please stay safe and enjoy each day as it comes.
