Minutes AGM 16th May 2018
Minutes of the Porthcawl Saint Sebastien Town Twinning Association AGM held on the 16th May 2018 @ The Grove Golf Club.
25 members present.
Ivor Williams welcomed all Members. A minute silence was held for Keith Morgan, a longstanding and active Committee Member who sadly passed away recently after a long illness.
Apologies for absence:

BL confirmed that we were in a good position financially. We have £3812.02 in both the bank accounts despite having paid for a visit from SSSL. BL thanked DB for all his excellent efforts in collecting the subs. He stated that there had been a lot of successful fundraising. Proposed RL and seconded RR. The Association would like to thank Andrew Singer for examining the Accounts.
Membership Secretary’s Report:
DB stated that we have a net loss of 7 this year giving a total of 84 memberships. Our total annual income was £860 including 14 Corporate Members. He thanked RL for bringing in the subs from our Corporate Members. DB feels that we shouldn’t increase membership fees even though they are very low. Proposed ME-L and seconded BS.
Social Secretary’s Report:
ME-L summarised social events held throughout the year including Bastille celebrations, a silent auction, Christmas craft fair and our Xmas party. She said that we will miss Keith Morgan who was always very supportive. She thanked Ivor, Angela and Melanie for their support during the year. The next event will be the Bastille celebration evening July 11th @The High Tide. Proposed AL and seconded MW.
Schools Report and Town Twinning report:
MW has had a busy year. MW and other members attended school fairs, provided quizzes and competitions for pupils, attended awards ceremonies and gave talks in schools.
MW also organised a joint meeting with other local Town Twinning Associations which was very successful. We have since been invited to and attended several events organised by other TTs. There are various joint events to which we have been invited. Full details will be sent out soon. A detailed report is available on the Website. Proposed CH and seconded RR.
Election of Officers:
Before the election, AL explained that there would be changes ahead as IW was standing down as Chairman due to other commitments. AL thanked him for all his efforts during the past year. She also stated that the Committee needed new members and that all posts could be contested. Training and support would, of course, be given to any new members.
Chair: Mary Emment-Lewis. Proposed AW, seconded ME-L.
Secretary: Ann Lee. Proposed IW, seconded MW.
Treasurer: BL. Proposed RL, Seconded TW.
Membership Secretary: DB is stepping down after many years service but is happy to assist any one takes over. No nominations.
Social Secretary: M W. Proposed RR, seconded BL.
Events /Publicity: No nominations.
Appointment of Examiner of Accounts. Andrew Singer has kindly agreed to continue with this role.
Confirmation of the new Mayor, Cllr Norah Clarke, as President, who stated that she would be happy to take on the role. Town Council’s nomination for Representative: This will be Cllr Robert Lee who will also continue as Webmaster.
Members enjoyed a 2 course meal provided by The Grove Golf Club and a slide show prepared by the late Keith Morgan of past TT events.
